Weeeeell, that was quick!!
Hello friends! Seems like I was just typing up the final post of 2021 just a little while ago, and now look what’s happened! It’s March 2022!! How the ell did that happen???
I don’t know about you, but we’ve been doing nothing. Well, pretty much nothing. It’s been a typical Finnish winter, but now this protracted winter landscape is getting on my last nerve. When will winter be over!! We are usually nearly snow-free by this point of the new year, but alas, there’s still quite a lot of snow on the ground. Finnish Meteorological Institute says roughly 58 cm- which translates to 22 inches or so. This is down from 67 cm of snow just last week!
We’ve had bouts of chilly weather, followed by plus temps hovering about 4c for the last couple of weeks. This flip-flop signals to me that winter is losing its grasp and spring-like conditions are making an inroad.
If the daylight hours increasing is any sign, which it IS!!! Then it’s just a matter of time, hopefully not a lot of time, when winter will finally be over! Just look how the sunlight hours are increasing every day! You can check it and compare it to yours here
Since it is March, we’ve found ourselves a bit behind the 8-ball regarding garden duties. Usually by now, we’ve been outside and started, or finished, the pruning of the apple trees. But there’s just no safe way to do it now with so much snow still on the ground. The possibility of stepping on buried bushes and plants under the snow just forces us to have to put the start of the gardening season on hold until the snow is gone.
So what does a home & garden renovation site have to offer when neither of those things are happening!? I don’t know!
I guess the number one reason for this post is to let you know, we’re still here! We WILL get that garden and home reno ball rolling once we’re able. Rest-assured, once we do get the ball rolling we’ll have plenty to share and hope it’s something you’ll find interesting.
Here’s how things have looked over the past month or so.

There is such stark beauty in winter pictures. I too am looking forward to spring. It has been a long two years. How’s your hobby going?

Hobby has not progressed Pam. There’s no place for it inside the house. Hopefully, once the weather turns and spring garden tasks are finished Pekka will once again begin to complete the shed renovation.
Until then, no hobby 😟
With all the winter time on my hands it would have been nice to ‘do’ something. . Maybe next year will be different.
Hope you’re well Take care!
