Kissed by frost – these lovely roses were encased by the night chill of autumn.
The death knell of severe frost is approaching -evening temperatures have been slowly receding to zero and lower the past week.
I returned to Finland mid-October to discover many leaves still on the trees, roses still in bloom, slight warmth during the daytime and abundant sunshine. Autumn may be here but there are still many lovely sights in the garden.
All is not lost. The sun melted the frost from the blooms and they emerged from their frosty sheaths undamaged.
At least for now.
