      • Could I ask you to do me a favour? Would you listen to the Hector version of Where Do You Go To, My Lovely? and tell me how it sounds in Finnish? I can hear him using French names in the first couple of lines, but then he stops. Is he using Finnish brands. actors, singers, holiday destinations to give the same sense of high living that the original does? You don’t need to read the whole post, Hector’s about two thirds of the way through. http://singbetterenglish.wordpress.com/2014/11/02/where-do-you-go-to/ I hope you don’t think that’s too cheeky! 🙂

        • I had my Finnish husband listen and this is what his take on the song was…
The French words remained French. No Finnish substitutions for place names, holiday destinations, etc. The song was sung with the same or nearly the same original lyrics – just in Finnish instead of English.

          • Thank you – and thank you to your husband 🙂 I had thought that the song diverted from the original because I couldn’t hear any more French names. I’ll alter what I say in the post. Thanks again.

  4. Ooh, this looks fun to follow! I love old house restoration/renovation, and I’m psyched to see a piece of Helsinki, a city I plan to visit in January.
