Early November at Vanha Talo Suomi.
I don’t know about you, but I feel this week will probably go down in history as one of the worst for the United States of America – it’s right down there with other lows like the Challenger Disaster, the World Trade Center Attack, the Civil War & Pearl Harbor. My heart breaks for all those who will become further disenfranchised and for whom the promises of a great nation have turned short-sighted, callous, and otherwise hollow.
Finland on the other hand, never fails to deliver on promises. Sometimes those promises come early – like the recent snowfall. Everyone knows it’s Autumn, but – Winter IS coming…and it appears sooner than some would like. I don’t get bothered by snow like some people do. To be honest, I’d rather have it than not have it – especially if the temperatures outside have dropped to the point which necessitate additional clothing, i.e., hat, scarf, gloves, long underwear, sweaters, snow pants, winter boots, etc, etc. 😀
All is good in our neighborhood!
Enjoy your November but remember Winter IS coming!

I didn’t order a white blanket so please don’t send me one. 🙂 This has been a challenging political time here in the US because of the negativity involved. But, the theatrics are now over. The majority of the voters have chosen an outspoken wealthy businessman over a retread of a wealthy couple who have already occupied the office. Right choice? Wrong choice? We’ll see.

Thanks for your reply.
CNN reports that the ‘wealthy Clinton-retread’ received more votes than the ‘outspoken wealthy businessman’ It isn’t difficult for many Americans to realize who voted for whom. I’m sure those same people will remember who to blame when the shit hits the fan.
Unfortunately, instead of choosing someone with diplomatic skills the minority of votoers chose someone with the temperment of a spoiled child who will bring the whole world down when he can’t bend the will of others to his narcistic way of doing things.
But then there’s always the chance that doesn’t happen and instead he only brings the USA to its knees. He’s got the talent of business completely figured out. With a track record like his what could possibly go wrong.
Right choice? Wrong choice? Well, the adages say you reap what you sow.
I hope there’s still something worth fixiing once his time in the White House is over. Because, in four years many of the old, white, racists who voted for Drumpf won’t be alive to cast another ballot.

I ordered a big white blanket, but it’s the kind I can pull over my head in bed for a few more days until my heart and psyche begin to heal a bit. Now please don’t send me the other kind of white blanket because I can’t take two insults in one week! (Although I do agree that snow is better than cold muddy stuff!)

There’s a lot to overcome, maybe too much!
I’m feeling every emotion except happiness – definitely not happiness.
Plenty of grief, anxiety, sadness, disappointment, shock and dismay – it’s a lot to process.
I am extremely thankful I don’t live there anymore. Being there would add insult to injury -would certainly be more than I could bear. You and the 40M others like us are in my thoughts – the rest well, they’ve already thrown us all collectively under the bus, so I guess I’m not much caring what happens to them.
This whole experience has proven to me beyond a shadow of doubt that good people cannot be relied upon to do the right thing. The hatred, selfishness, racism and homophobia of the minority who voted as they did are welcome to the world’s contempt and mine.
